I I have been painting in watercolor for three decades but almost exclusively for the last three years. I've been fortunate to study under some reknowned teachers in workshops through the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, the Arlington Artists Alliance, and the Florida Keys Watercolor Society. My paintings strive to convey beauty in the mundane, such as drying seagrass, or give a whole new perspective to the already interesting and beautiful subject like the sea turtle.
I work primarily from my own photos, which are plentiful. I find daily inspiration all around me. I seek motivation in the art of others and love making connections in the creative world. Feel free to connect with me on social media. I'm also open to collaborative efforts!
I love trying new things, both in life and in art. In 2014, I gave alcohol ink painting a try. It was a natural fit for me and I found myself teaching demos and collaborating on an e-book of techniques. As a long-time lover of printmaking, not having a printing press was a challenge with frequent moves. When I discovered gelatin printing, I was suddenly able to print in my studio! I now devote most of my time to watercolor painting, but occasionally take a break to pursue other media.
When not painting, I love to walk in nature, whether this is the wooded trails of Virginia or on the beaches. Butterflies, birds, fish and shells have been recent subjects of my artwork. I currently live in the Florida Keys.
